🛒 Ingredients

  • 8–9 lb bone-in spiral ham (discard included glaze packet)
  • 1/2 cup apple juice

Bourbon Glaze

  • 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup bourbon (or apple whiskey)
  • 1/4 cup apple juice

🍳 Equipment

  • Roasting pan
  • Small saucepan
  • Basting brush
  • Aluminum foil

📋 Instructions

  1. Place the ham flat-side down in a roasting pan. Pour 1/2 cup apple juice over the ham and cover completely with foil.
  2. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine brown sugar, bourbon, and 1/4 cup apple juice in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until sugar dissolves, then set aside to cool.
  4. Remove ham from the oven, brush glaze all over the exterior, and return to oven uncovered for 30 minutes.
  5. Increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Baste ham with pan juices and glaze, then bake uncovered for another 15 minutes to caramelize.
  6. Remove from oven, baste once more, and tent with foil to rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.

💡 Notes & Variations

  • Apple whiskey can replace traditional bourbon for a fruitier flavor profile.
  • Serve extra pan juices on the side as a dipping sauce.
